First Ever National Stationery Store Day!
I can hardly contain my excitement! When I first heard that Calliope Paperie in Massachusetts created a National Stationery Store Day, I literally squealed with delight. My first thought was how much fun we could have with this event. I mean, if you’ve ever participated in Record Store Day, Independent Toy Store Day, or Local Yarn Store Day at fibre space, then you know why I’m so excited. It’s a chance for us to celebrate our love for paper and our local paper community. The first ever National Stationery Store Day is August 6, so mark your calendars.
Since this is our first year, we are keeping it low-key but still packed with tons of fun. In the morning, we will have our fishbowl game out and be giving away prizes for folks who get their ping pong ball in the fishbowl. Get a ping pong ball for every $10 you spend, so the more you spend, the more chances you have to win. There might be balloons too. Just sayin’.
As soon as we heard about National Stationery Store Day, I knew we had to collaborate with our favorite calligrapher, Michele Hatty Fritz of Meant To Be Calligraphy. That was a no brainer. She will be creating calligraphy magic that afternoon, writing out a message just for you, no purchase necessary. (Please one per customer and allow time for the ink to dry) Grab a little something sweet that you can keep for yourself or send it to someone extra special.
Finally, if that wasn’t enough, we will have swag bags for the first 100 people who spend $50 or more. Our beloved stationers have very generously sent us enough goodies to make these swag bags worth well over $50. A big thanks goes out to Idlewild Co., Amy Heitman, Poppy Popcorn, Bitchstix, Ink Meets Paper, Little Well Paper Co., and Ramona & Ruth, just to name a few. These swag bags will be a veritable treasure trove of goodies, so stop in and get yours!
Oh, wait, I forgot to mention that National Stationery Store Day falls on tax-free weekend at both stores, so grab all the supplies you need for anything from school to cocktails. The tax is on us.
It will be a wonderful weekend in Old Town. We can’t wait to celebrate with you soon!
