What Is A Bar Cart?

Just about any utility cart can be used to hold your beverages of choice along with glassware – but a bar cart is all about the display. This is where the fun begins. Bar carts come in a variety of materials, such as brass, acrylic, wood, glass, nickel...you get the idea. Most of them have a handle and wheels, although some models are stationary. They usually have shelves that allow for taller bottles; glasses and bar tools generally sit on top. And it’s more than okay to add decorative items for a bespoke touch.

The bar cart has an interesting history that dates back to the 1800s. It originated from the tea trolley, which was used in Victorian England. Servers in upscale homes would wheel in tea for the lady of the house and her guests. Fast forward to the 1950s and the bar cart really came into popularity. City dwellers left for the suburbs, and the at-home cocktail party was in full swing. In the 70s and 80s, homes grew in size, and people began installing their own bars, complete with shelves, bar stools, sinks, and such. Bar carts lost a little of their luster – until Mad Men brought them back!

These stylish carts, which are available in a range of sizes, are perfect in larger homes, as well as apartments and condos. They have evolved to feel both modern and classic. Not only do we have several bar carts to choose from, we also have shakers, openers, coasters, glasses, trays, and other accoutrements. Update your existing cart or come find the perfect one for you.
