Why Wait? Mark Seasonal Home Fixes Off Your List!

We all live with little necessary home repairs. Whether it’s a leaky faucet, broken fence, missing trim, holes in drywall – well you get the picture. Most of the time we let these things go until we decide it’s time to sell our house. We get everything repaired, replaced, painted and then wonder why we didn’t do it sooner!

Keeping your home in good condition is important for practical and aesthetic reasons, but keeping up with every maintenance task can be tough. From filter changes and smoke alarm checks to painting the exterior. Don’t allow small repairs to become costly. With regular maintenance, you’ll save money in the long run, improve your home’s energy efficiency, increase its value, and keep it safe for family members.

Here are some tips to keep your home humming without breaking the bank:

Use LED Bulbs. Costly upfront but worth it in the long run.

Regular cleaning. Regular cleaning is not just about maintaining a pleasant environment—it can also help your kitchen appliances prevent build-ups that could lead to malfunctions.

DIY Repairs. Try doing some of the minor repairs yourself. There are many online tutorials which will guide you through simple fixes.

Seasonal Checkups. These include fall gutter cleaning and spring cleaning of your HVAC system.

Preventive Pest Control. Be sure to address potential infestations before they get out of control. Once they do you will incur costly extermination and repair bills.

Regular Drain Cleanup. Kitchen and bathroom drains require regular cleaning to avoid costly plumbing repairs.

Clean Dryer Vents. Remove the lint every time you use your dryer.

Seal Gaps and Cracks. Especially those in walls, windows, and doors. These can let in drafts, increasing your heating and cooling costs. Use caulk or weatherstripping to keep your home comfortable and energy efficient.

Check Sump Pump. If you have one, check it on a regular basis. If it fails, there will be water everywhere.

Paint Touch-ups. Keep an eye on your home’s exterior paint. Regular touch-ups can prolong the lifespan of your exterior paint and protect your home’s outer shell.

Regular Roof Inspection. Your roof is one of the most critical parts of your home. Have your roof inspected regularly by a professional. Small repairs are considerably less expensive than replacing your entire roof.

Prevention is always better than cure. Don’t wait until something breaks down before taking action, and don’t wait until you plan on selling your home to update it or make repairs. Enjoy its beauty while you’re still living in it!
